The much awaited 3-day fashion extravaganza, India Runway Week Season 8 Summer/Spring Edition commenced at Thayagraj Stadium on 28th April 2017. Even on its third day (30th April 2017), India Runway Week continued to please everyone. The day was filled with designers showcasing their Spring/Summer collection. From beautiful and elegant models wearing pastel palette to Swara Bhaskar walking the ramp and almost slaying it, here’s a glimpse of what all happened on the third day!
The day started off with Suprachi’s clothes ruling the ramp. The designs were stunning, the pastel palette of light and airy colors gave the clothes a soothing touch and thus, on the whole, the clothes had a ladylike sophistication. The subtle effect was all the more visible due to the use of light weight fabric like linen satin and maheshwari silk. The dramatic, mysterious and bold element added with a pinch of feminine grace by the designer was thrilling to experience. An eclectic mix of dresses made from interwoven threads of cotton and silk, the fancy necklines with frill and flounce, use of zari and bead work in western clothing was hard to resist. The spring/summer collection by Anshita Garg aims at comfort and chic clothing, and the idea was well-defined through her collection. Pooja Peshoia collection had a variety of graceful lehengas, structured peplums jackets, crop top and skirts, sophisticated gowns, chic sarees and striking jumpsuits. The use of sheer organza, tulle, silks and satins added to the appeal of the clothes. Clotho showcased a collection filled with a pastel palette and nature inspired handwork in different hues and shades (all defining nature and its elements). The clothing line was more of an extension of one's personality; one can almost feel an instant collection. The collection symbolized purity and feminine divinity.
Next was the launch of Amun-Ra (hidden light) collection by a Delhi based designer, Ankur J, which emphasizes on Egyptian colours and prints with a contemporary mix, and gives out a message of “Help Egypt, Help a Heritage”. The must watch in the collection is the 5D Egyptian beetles state of the art prints and Egyptian gods while doing fine justice to the Indian art. It was well-presented and got a good response from the audience. Ridhansh by Sonia Gaba presented their collection “Nazakat”, which was all about feminine grace. It gave out a message of how you carry yourself in whatever you wear. In a way, whatever you wear, becomes beautiful by the way you handle it. Her collection had a mixture of whites, yellows and goldens, and the models beautifully showcased the collection by pairing it with some elegant jewellery. With the desire to cater to young, confident women, who define fashion on their own terms—the women of today, Priyamvada Goel showcased her collection, Priyamvada Couture, which focused on Indian Ethnic Wear and effortless elegance. Bollywood Actress Mugdha Godse walked the ramp for Priyamvada. She looked stunning on the ramp. “Being a part of a lady on her special day is what motivates me and through my outfit I want her to feel like a queen,” says Priyamvada Goel. The indo-western style emphasized by the flowy cuts and intricate embroidery made the collection stand out.
When two ladies from different generations come together, they are capable to create something that is more of a dream. Preenish is one such example, wherein two passionate ladies from different generations, are creating magic together. The collection uses a wide range of Indian materials like Brocades, Silks, Raw Silk, Cotton Silk & Organza to create the perfect outfits for everyone and every occasion, thus forming a rare combination in the field of Indian fashion. To be able to meet the younger minds and imagination, and also keeping their mothers in mind, the ladies have created the perfect traditional wear—because that is the most important part of Indian culture. S-LAZ by Supriya Shukla brings the funky element intertwined with elegance. Unique pieces in the shades of skin color (referred as blank canvass) with multi-coloured embroideries and handwork in green, light blue, orange, fuchsia and shades of yellow speaks a language of its own. The designs are feminine and use a combination of light and flowy fabrics such as Georgette and Silk. Another prominent detail of the designs is the use of frills, layers, shirring and stonework, which adds to their distinctive appeal. Sundarban by Akanksha Sarkar highlights the evergreen splendour by bringing in luxurious drapes. It’s an indo-western collection thus a blend of east and west is apparent. The classic lehenga paired with a cape and the tulip pants with cold shoulder top are some anomalous examples of collection. And amazing part is the mix looks totally dazzling. It’s experimental and chic, the unique embellishments are inspired from the depths of the forests. The greens and browns, and use of leaves and flowers further accentuate the forest theme. The use of superior quality of the fabrics makes the collection look surreal.
Inspired from the world of Bohemian Self-love, Akassh K Aggarwal presented his collection “Tribe Vibe Collectives”. This collection of jewellery symbolised the old tribal art and it has embossed 3D, metallic gold and silver with gemstones which made the jewellery look too vibrant. I absolutely loved the background score; the beat and the pump conveyed the strength of a woman spot on! The rebellious and bold side of women was prominent on the ramp. Bollywood Actress Swara Bhaskar walked the ramp for Akassh and she slayed it with her looks. The jewellery looked versatile and therefore can be easily paired with both ethnic and western wear.

With a few more shows by Tevar, Ritambhara Paliya and the grand finale by Kristy De Cunha, India Runway Week Season 8 came to a glorious end! The celebration of womanhood, their grace and elegance was truly the central theme visible in all their designs.
